“Max Jammer” - Malamar VMAX/Weavile in Standard!
Top of the morning, Trainers! I hope you’re all doing well on this fine week. The Team Challenge has been unfolding each weekend and is getting down to the final amount of teams: at the time of writing this, there are currently only a handful of teams left in the whole tournament! Since we’re in the final summit of this huge tournament, I have been doing some scouting to see what some players have been playing, and I’ve come to realize that many players are favoring Dark-type decks over other types because Dark-type Pokémon can handle Shadow Rider Calyrex (because it is weak to Dark). Upon discovering that, there has been this new variant of a Dark-Box style deck that includes Malamar VMAX alongside Weavile. This deck is disruptive, pretty meticulous in nature, and can be resilient to move around energy. I don’t want to spoil too much of this article, but shocker alert: this deck is perfect, and I’d expect more people to play it as this Team Challenge global event simmers down to the best of the best. I’m very excited about this article if you couldn’t tell, so without further ado, let’s hop into this crazy concept!

“Ride of the High King” – Ice Rider in Standard!
What’s poppin’, Trainers? There’s been a big shift lately in the metagame with a large surge of LucMetal decks, which has ended with a variety of VMAX decks, including Path to the Peak and Phoebe, into their lists. One of the VMAX decks that tends to do the best of all of those decks is Eternatus, which has seen an insane rise in numbers to prevent LucMetal from succeeding. Eternatus also takes out all of those pesky Shadow Rider Calyrex decks, making it a solid contender in the standard format. At this point, we’re looking for a deck that can handle both Shadow Rider and Eternatus with relative ease; low and behold, we have our answer! And let me tell you – this deck isn’t just a one-trick pony. Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX is a beast in its own right and boasts some of the strongest matchups of any deck within the entire standard format. It has great typing and relatively uncommon weakness amongst what is most popular right now. As long as ADP decks focus around Moltres V instead of playing straight-forward Zacian V lists, I think this is the perfect time for Ice Rider to succeed and take the #1 spot in our standard format. Let’s get into the strategy of our deck and get into why this deck is doing so well right now!

One of the new cards that have stuck out to me in particular, Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX (Chilling Reign), and that’s going to be my focus for this article! The card seems like a spiritual reprint of Malamar (Forbidden Light) and Zoroark-GX (Shining Legends) simultaneously, which means it's gonna be excellent! This article will focus on a few ways to play this deck, their strategies, and some of my personal lists! I hope these lists serve you well and give you a reason to pick up some PTCGO codes from this wonderful site! Dashing to Victory: Victini Rapidash
Victini VMAX (Battle Styles) is a newer archetype, and it has already had its highs and lows, but it seems to be back on top. Nobody was really expecting this, but it happened after Koichi Kimura was able to win the massive Chill TCG event with a new version of the deck. That new version played Galarian Rapidash V (Promo), which was recently released because it can utilize Libra Horn to target OHKOs. Most members of the community are currently playing this new exciting deck. First, let’s look at Kimura’s winning deck.

“Chilling Echoes” – ADPZ Updates With Chilling Reign!
What is going on, Pokémon Trainers! It’s the beginning of a new format, and much like all new metagames, it’s important to look at all the new cards from a new set to see how they’re all going to interact with one another. One of my favorite cards from the new set is Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX, especially when combined with Cresselia. There are many new decks that came out in the new set, but there are also many mainstays within the standard format that got some… dare I say – game-breaking – updates to them! One example of this is Arceus & Dialga & Palkia Tag Team GX (aka “ADP”) alongside Zacian V, a very common deck that holds relentless power. Of course, we all know this deck has been around since forever. Still, it continues to get continuous updates throughout time. The most notable upgrade in recent memory is the addition of Crobat V. The Dark Ascent ability added an extra boost of consistency to the deck, which has allowed it to succeed even in this current crazy quick format. Today I want to talk about how the deck will change and do a quick once over the deck’s overall strategy for anybody who may not know about this deck (or is just a newer player).

The Return of Eternatus!
Eternatus VMAX (Darkness Ablaze) has been one of the best Pokémon Online deck ever since it was first released. It has placed highly at many large PTCGO events, including the Players Cup, and is a simple Pokémon deck to pick up! With the release of Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX (Battle Styles), many players were expecting Eternatus VMAX to take a fall due to increased competition! The funny thing about PTCG Online events is that nothing lasts forever. Eternatus VMAX is now viable again because Fire-type decks are all the rage, which means it has some favorable matchups in the metagame. I’m trying to say that Eternatus VMAX is a great play right now, and I’m stoked to share my awesome new list!
