Hola Trainers! I’ve been really enjoying our Standard format as I think it’s been a lot of fun to explore. For new players, pokemon online decks have never been more simple to play than they are now. However, for expert deck builders, there is a ton of flexibility in terms of these new Drizzile/Inteleon engines people keep playing. I feel like new Pokemon online decks keep on continuously getting innovated, which excites me as a player - I don’t think there’s been this much diversity in Pokémon in a long time, so I welcome the different archetypes that we have within Standard. That being said, recently, Le Bui (I believe) has taken a renovated archetype to new heights. Victini VMAX has been around for a decent chunk of time. However, Le brought a new flavor to the deck by playing Kabu as one of his main Supporters alongside countless copies of powerful Item and Stadium cards. The way this deck is built makes it a very “turbo” build where you’ll draw very aggressively into every card that you need; you do this at the cost of your deck being very linear in nature. That being said, let’s talk about the deck and take a deeper look into why it’s doing so well!

I booted up my Pokemon Trading Card Game Online app, loaded up some PTCGO codes, and then traded those Pokemon online codes to trade for this deck. I was very excited, and it honestly didn’t take that many PTCGL codes to make the deck. If you’re looking to buy some codes, we sell them here on PTCGO Store, and I highly urge you to check out our competitive pricing and swift delivery! Let’s talk about the newest way to play Victini VMAX today!

Strategy

Victini Vmax

The whole point of this deck is to take as many cheap Prize Cards as possible in as short of a time as we can. Our game plan is very similar to what Arceus & Dialga & Palkia Tag Team GX used to be, where we will gust up very easy targets and knock them out, but with an attacker that is similar (in terms of damage output and efficiency) to Eternatus VMAX, where we will be attacking for two energy. Efficiency is the name of the game with Victini VMAX, where we can attack V Pokemon for 220 damage (which is excellent considering there are more and more V’s coming into the format with each set being released). Now that Tag Team Pokemon have rotated, I think Victini has a shot to shine, considering almost every deck in the format is based around Pokémon V.

As for the rest of the cards in our deck tend to be extremely destructive and oppressive towards our opponent’s setup. Look at cards in our deck lists such as Fan of Waves, Crushing Hammer, Pokémon Catcher, and Path to the Peak - these are all wildly aggressive cards on their own; when combined, they form a powerful strategy that can overcome any opponent in their way. Let’s hop into what copies of what cards we play in our Victini VMAX deck list!

Key TCG Cards

Victini Vmax

4 Victini VMAX – The main star of the show, this Pokemon is one of the strongest VMAXs to be printed to date! For two energy cards, we can hit for 100 damage, or 220 damage if your opponent’s active Pokemon is a V! This is an amazing attack because it is possible to use quickly without the reliance onWelder (which is expanded) – this is the first Fire deck that hasn’t needed the crutch of that Supporter, and it can be powered up manually. This attack can clean up really any Pokemon V, including Crobat VUshifu V, Zacian V, and many other common attackers. Victini tends to struggle against non-V Pokemon since we really cap out at 100 damage against those. However, that’s not a big deal because most of the 310 HP is a little low on a VMAX, but we should be able to take two hits from anything that isn’t a Water-type. One retreat cost is fairly typical for such a light Pokemon, which allows us to be agile in switching out our attackers. The first attack, Spreading Flames, does a great job when we’re running low on energy cards in the deck.

Victini V

2 Victini V (SSH) – I wanted to touch on the V because it is one of the strongest V Pokemon to be printed regarding its attacking abilities. First of all, Victini V also has the Energy Burst attack, which means we don’t need the VMAX all the time to KO our opponent’s Pokemon. That, and if we ever play against a Pokemon that abuses a ton of energy (Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX, for example), we can hit them for a TON of damage. Also, Victini V is packing the Spreading Flames attack (the same one as the VMAX), so having the option to accelerate a ton of energy going second is quite nice as well.

Victini V

2 Victini V (VIV) – The less important of the two Victini is still vital to push out consistent damage. 120 damage can swiftly deal with a Zacian V orZamazenta V and finish off a VMAX after a poke from Victini VMAX.

Kabu

4 Kabu - One of the most important cards I want to note in this list is Kabu; Kabu is important because it will affect the way you play the game! Kabu will allow you to draw additional cards, provided you only have a Victini VMAX in play. That means you need to pay attention to when you bench a second attacker and only use Kabu when you’re benchless (or desperate to draw more cards). This is the most potent Supporter we have in this deck besides Professor’s Research. Something cool to note about this Support line is that there are 16 total Supporters in this deck! This deck plays so many because it doesn’t have a way to search out specific Trainer cards (like with Drizzile) and doesn’t have an ability that lets you draw cards (like with Crobat V). This deck is extremely minimalistic, so you need to ensure you can play out each game and not brick!

4 Boss’ Orders - Victini VMAX can OHKO pretty much any Pokémon V, so having access to Boss is a precious asset! This card aids us in being as aggressive as possible and will help us pressure our opponent’s board quickly. It can also help us to finish off any VMAX Pokémon on the opponent’s board. Lastly, Boss can help us avoid hitting into non-V Pokemon that the opponent may force active, such as Houndoom or Octillery. Just Boss around it and get in there!

4 Pokegear 3.0 - This card increases our odds of drawing into a copy of Boss’ Orders. It can also double to find a draw Supporter too, which is a little bonus! My favorite thing about this card is that it thins our deck so that towards the end of the game, you’ll have a higher chance of drawing into the card you need to win the game.

4 Pokémon Catcher - A coin flip card? Get ready because there are a few in here! Pokémon Catcher has the same effect as Boss’ Orders, however, it has two key differences: one, it’s a coin flip, and two, an Item card. Since it’s an Item, we can play it after using a draw Supporter. This can be especially vital to our strategy when we can’t find a Boss’ and must instead use Kabu, Research, or Marnie.

Path to the Peak

4 Path to the Peak - The most oppressive Stadium in standard, Path can lock up abilities on Rule Box Pokémon. Since we don’t play any abilities in our deck, this card is effectively a one-sided Stadium that can slow our opponent down from using key abilities like Suicune V’s Fleet Foot, Crobat V’s Dark Ascent, or Umbreon VMAX’s Dark Signal. Path to the Peak can also be used to bump other popular Stadium cards, like Tower of Waters or Tower of Darkness. Sticking this card down on the first turn of the game can sometimes just shut it down for your opponent, hence why we play four!

Fan of Waves

4 Fan of Waves - Fan of Waves is making a huge splash in Inteleon decks because it is searchable via the numerous amounts of Drizzile those decks play. Our deck, however, relies on drawing into them via playing draw Supporters. Fan of Waves can easily set your opponent back a turn or so in terms of energy attachments, and each Fan of Waves you play after the first one will get progressively more painful for the opponent. While I don’t think you’ll play all four in a game, we play a higher count so that you draw into them when you need them!

4 Crushing Hammer - These serve a very similar purpose to Fan of Waves, but the main difference is obviously that these can discard any energy. If we can accelerate energy with Spreading Flames and then remove any energy from the opponent’s side, we can create an unstoppable board that our opponent won’t be able to counter.

4 Heat Energy - Heat Energy is a useful tool in buffing Victini VMAX’s HP while also satisfying each attack’s energy costs. Improving Victini’s HP by +20 (or in some cases more with multiple Heat Energy) is extremely advantageous at turning an OHKO into a 2HKO and, in some cases, a 2HKO into a 3HKO. Heat Energy’s effect can only be removed if the opponent plays Energy removal cards, so most of the time, it will stick. The only downside to this card is that the opponent can play Fan of Waves against you, however, we can make up for missed Energy attachments by using Victini V’s (SSH) Spreading Flames attack.

Conclusion

This deck is one of the most aggressive pokemon online decks to play in the format, and it’s extremely linear to the point where it’s the perfect deck for beginners who are learning the game. If you like straightforward decks that don’t require too much thinking, this deck is the deck for you then. This deck doesn’t require too many PTCGO codes because it only needs a few cards from the new expansion, so it’s perfect for beginners and veterans alike. I’d suggest nabbing some PTCGO codes and building this pokemon deck online because this deck will only get stronger. Until next time, have fun!
